Ahoy all,
What a Saturday! I have just completed my essay that is due next week for Tourism Queensland. I have to write a story, and the story has to be about me in 500 words or less. Easy-peez!
I wrote about 4000 boring words and then started editing (hacking it to pieces). I have written a funny little something something ~ 499 words to be exact. I was inspired by Cut Copy, an Australian electro-band. The song that hit a chord with me was Far Away…’cause Australia is far away. The band comes from the city of Melbourne. I am still trying to figure out what the people that come from there are called… Melbournians, Melbourners, Melbournites? UPDATE: I was contacted by a friendly Melbournite and they call themselves Melburnians!
Check ‘em out! They are ridiculously awesome!

He’ Marcella!
I mainly teach in 11th and 12th grade, so the students are 17,18…
The students I’ll be working on this with are 12th graders. We live in the southern, French speaking part of Belgium, some 50 miles south of Brussels.
I’ve been teaching for 20 years now and I always try to choose topics that give the students the opportunity to communicate with natives that “stand out from the pack” and either teach them sth about their own culture/way of life or simply make them feel like travelling or dreaming…. I get them to communicate with native Americans, Maoris from New Zealand, Amish people, a death row inmate in Texas, Aborigines in Australia, 2 US war resisters in Canada, etc..etc…
Your answer gave me an idea! Would you accept to be interviewed by the students? I would collect/summarize their questions on a single Word document and forward it to you. You could answer via e-mail or the “ultimate” would be to answer via a video on youtube or sth of the kind…
Now, let me tell you one thing : if for any reason you don’t have time to spend on such a project, FEEL FREE TO TELL ME IMMEDIATELY AND I WON’T make the students’ mouth water with that. I won’t be angry at you, I can understand you have sth better to do in such a hectic period…
It’s simply your quick answer that triggered this project. Honestly I wasn’t even expecting an answer…
As for the picture, I’ll take it tomorrow and send it immediately to you tomorrow night.
If you want to read about the kind of things we do in the classroom or simply see what the classroom looks like, go to :

The students you see here aren’t the students I’ll be using your video with.
I’ll see the students tomorrow, as I said earlier, and I’ll be checking my e-mails for your answer (either positive or negative).
REALLY looking forward to reading from you soon.

Sali Marcella
Du müsstest im Clip auf Deutsch eher “Hallo” sagen. (”Hallo” für hello, “Tschüss” für goodbye). But this ist only a detail! “Sali” kommt ursprünglich, denke ich, von “Salut” aus dem Französischen…
So cool Dein Clip!
Jacqueline
